Blog entry Freerice has new subjects

08 February 2012

Where is Timbuktu? Where would you find Persepolis today? Where is Stonehenge? If you're not sure of the answer to any of these questions, you will want to play the new Freerice subject, "World Landmarks".

That's right! By popular demand, we have new subjects. Today we launched "World Landmarks" in English, as well as French ("Monuments mondiaux") and Spanish ("Monumentos y sitios del mundo").

You can also now play Flags of the World in Italian ("Bandiere del mondo").

And if that wasn't enough to make you smile: this Friday, February 10, we will launch 4 more subjects for each of the languages mentioned above. What are they? Well, for now that's a secret. Make sure to check out the Freerice blog on Friday to find out!

These subjects are being launched to honour our inaugural World Freerice Week, 6 Degrees of Freerice, which started on Monday. This year's theme is all about encouraging friends and family to join us on Freerice, and for them to get their friends to join, so that our movement to fight hunger can explode!

So far, 6 Degrees of Freerice has seen over 350 groups created and over 1,000 tweets from across the world!

So if you haven't already, get your Freerice6 group set up and get 6 friends involved. Remember, they need to invite another 6 people each!

And of course, please share the new World Landmark subject and our World Freerice Week on Twitter and Facebook:

Freerice is maintained by and supports the United Nations World Food Programme, the world's largest humanitarian organization fighting hunger worldwide. To find out more go to

So cool! I think that it is very important that Freerice keeps adding new and diverse subjects. I also have an idea for a new game. They should create a game where people answer questions about hunger. EXAMPLE
What is the hunger rate in Africa?
I think that this will really help to raise awareness about hunger; and really help the cause Freerice is fighting for; as well as everyone at this website.
